Essent is one of the largest energy suppliers in the Netherlands. For their top 80 meetings, where the firm's top managers discuss the future of the company. Crooked Line was asked to make an animation to kick-off the day.

The script was written by communication agency Reggs and had to be translated into moving images that introduced the various topics on corporate responsibility for Essent. The main message: the three departments of the company, now competing with each other, have to work together to achieve one goal: a greener future that is also reliable and affordable.

Nieuw NU

Client: NU.nl
Commissioned by: NU.nl

With a 40% market share, NU.nl is one of the largest news sites in the Netherlands. So when they restyle their website, they take their time and want to make sure their visitors understand what has changed.

Crooked Line was asked to explain in about 30 seconds what and why NU.nl changed in their new layout.
We wanted to make a sort of abstraction of the NU.nl site. Not showing too many details, but just showing what changed and leave the rest.

To achieve this Crooked Line choose a cutout cardboard visualisation. Everything got a DIY feeling. The computer screens are made out of cardboard, the website and texts are all strips of cardboard. Even the logo is made out of pieces of cutout cardboard.

Everything is very recognizable, but not super detailed, so you automatically focus on the main changes and not the details.

The Corporate Research Institute asked us for TOP-Employers to visualize their vision on how to deal with the looming pension gap.
As more and more babyboomers retire, employers need to find a way to compensate for the strongly shrinking labor force.

How to attract new employees? What matters to Generation X men and women? What matters to Generation Y employees? All these people look for different things in a job and if employers want to attract these they need to adapt.

Animation to illustrate a debate about human trafficking.

We were asked by HappyChaos to make something, anything, to illustrate a debate they held about human trafficking. The debate focussed on the trafficking of young women around the world for the sex industry. Emphasis was put on the methods used by so called 'loverboys' who seduce young women and then force them to work in prostitution. Each year, 2 million women worldwide are traded like commodities.

Post-its

How many ideas begin by jotting down some notes and scribbling some doodles on a little post-it? We think quite a lot.

Our idea for this animation started on one, for example. So for us, one post-it stands for one idea. And since TED is all about ideas, we thought this was a pretty good idea to tell our story. And when we started to cover our table lamp and furniture with post-its we couldn't wait to start building our little world and bring it to life.
